WATW RESIDENCY

'WOMEN AT THE WELL' FOUNDED BY THE SISTERS OF MERCY SUPPORTS WOMEN EXITING PROSTITUION, TRAFFICKING & SUBSTANCE MISUSE, PROVIDING A SAFE SPACE AND SERVICES IN ADDITION TO ACTIVITIES AND PROJECTS RANGING FROM THE ARTS TO YOGA TO ENCOURAGE SELF DEVELOPMENT & ESTEEM.

 

THIS RESIDENCY RANGED FROM RUNNING ART PROJECTS WITH THE CHARITY'S CLIENTS TO MAINTAINING A WRITTEN* AND VISUAL JOURNALS OF THE ARTIST'S EXPERIENCE TO INFORM THE PRODUCTION OF FOUR ARTWORKS AS THE FINAL OUTCOME. THE FINAL ARTWORKS WILL BE A SET OF FOUR GOLD WEIGHTS INSPIRED FROM HISTORIC AFRICAN CIVILISATIONs AS WEIGHTS TO MEASURE GOLD DUST BUT ALSO, DEPENDENT ON THE SPECIFIC CULTURE, NEGOTIATED MENTAL HEALTH TO BEING REPOSITORIES FOR THE ANCESTEROS THAT COULD SUPPORT AND ADVISE ON COMERCIAL NEGOTIATION IN BENEFIT TO THE INDIVIDUAL AND/OR FAMILY.
